Programs

The purpose of the trip is to explore the African Diaspora and Pan Africanism. Ghana was the first African nation to acheive formal independence in 1957 and its first native Prime Minister Kwame Nkrumah advocated Pan Africanism, the economic, plitical, educational, and military unity of Africa, as a means of improving the standard of living for all people of African descent. Consequently, Pan Africanism became a guiding ethic in Ghanaian society and institutions. This study abroad trip allows participants to witness Pan Africanism as a liberation tool and participate in Ghanaian culture. ways that the education system supports daily life and outcomes for Ghanians.
